General description

The BIOTINYLATER F′ Electrocompetent Cells are based on the MC1061 strain, but have had the birA gene integrated into the genome.
The birA protein (biotin ligase), which is induced with the addition of arabinose, will facilitate the addition of a biotin molecule to proteins bearing the appropriate signal sequence.
